World renowned motorsports legend Travis Pastrana released his latest YouTube video earlier this month with Fort Lauderdale in the spotlight. The video reached more than 11 million views in ten days and has been regularly included on YouTube’s top trending videos list.

This is the 12th installment of the popular YouTube internet series. Each episode in the series films in a different destination, highlighting that area. This recent release featured downtown Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas Boulevard, the beaches and Port Everglades. Pastrana demonstrated his extreme stunt driving talents from a base jumping, extreme drifting in several neighborhoods and over railroad tracks, performing donuts around a monster truck standing on its front two wheels and jumping over the Andrews Avenue bridge and landing on rails with help of a super horsepower retro 1983 Subaru GL Wagon.

“Travis stepped up big time for this film, really improving his driving style and proximity,” said Gymkhana Director and Hoonigan co-founder, Brian Scotto. “Gymkhana 2022 is the wildest film I have done on four heels,” said Travis Pastrana.

Broward County’s Film Commission, Film Lauderdale and other County agencies, as well as the City of Fort Lauderdale and their agencies, were instrumental in assisting and coordinating the approvals for this project.

Broward County’s new Film Commission worked with the production team in January to quickly acquire approvals from the Broward County’s Highway Construction and Engineering Division for the Andrews Avenue bridge jump, Fort Lauderdale’s agencies, Florida Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard. “When the shoot was delayed until June, due to Pastrana’s base-jumping accident in January 2022, we already had the framework of approvals in place to make for a smooth filming experience,” said Broward County Film Commissioner Sandy Lighterman. “This video is a picture postcard that shows off Broward County to millions worldwide.”
