Sunrise Health & Rehabilitation Center ranked as Broward County’s second largest nursing home in the first quarter of 2026, based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The facility offered 237 beds during the period, 106 more than the Broward County average in the same quarter. It provided care for an average of 223.1 residents.

The CMS awarded Sunrise Health & Rehabilitation Center an overall rating of 4 out of 5, above the state’s nursing home average of 3.3 in Florida.

Emerald Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was the county’s largest facility in the quarter, with 240 available beds. Pearl at Fort Lauderdale Rehabilitation and Nursin ranked third, offering 206 beds.

Sunrise Health & Rehabilitation Center reported no fines or penalties in the first quarter of 2026.

Broward County, Florida, had a total of 24 for-profit nursing homes as of that time.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that America’s population of older adults continues to expand as younger groups shrink. Between 2020 and 2024, the U.S. population age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the number under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last century, the nation’s older adult population increased sharply from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study indicates that nearly half of older Americans, approximately 28 million, could need long-term services and supports. The study also projects that more than a third of this group may eventually rely on nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
