The Animal Care Division is working with local and state authorities to bring approximately 60 large dogs in Dania Beach to safety after their owner was arrested. Animal Care veterinarians are conducting a preliminary assessment of the dogs to determine the urgency of their need for treatment and the nature of treatment required.

Animal Care is working closely with the Broward Sheriff's Office and appreciates the collaboration with The Humane Society of Broward County, which also responded to the scene to take the animals into its adoption program.

Animal Care is also working with neighboring County and state-wide partners to place these dogs. Partners include Furry Friends Adoption in Jupiter, Best Friends Animal Society, Florida Leaders in Lifesaving, Humane Society of Marion County and many more.

People are encouraged to visit the Pet Harbor site to preview these and other available pets. The dogs are all shepherd or collie mixes.

Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd Street, Fort Lauderdale. The facility is now open seven days a week from 11AM to 5:30PM for adoptions. All adoptions are free and include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, a microchip and a pet license.
