New program seeks to improve health outcomes, optimize patient experience, reduce healthcare costs
A new Clinical Review program for businesses allows employees to connect with Cleveland Clinic providers for a review of their medical records. Following the review, specialized Cleveland Clinic physicians will provide information and education on potential treatment options for similar symptoms and conditions based on what they’ve seen in their practice.
The employee may then choose to schedule a visit with the appropriate Cleveland Clinic provider in Cleveland or south Florida.
“Our goal with this Clinical Review program is to improve outcomes, reduce costs and optimize patient experience – while also creating care equity,” said Robert Lorenz, M.D., MBA, FACS, executive medical director of Market and Network Services at Cleveland Clinic. “It’s about optimizing care options so that patients get the right care at the right time, regardless of where they live.”
The benefits of participation for employers include long-term cost savings because employees may avoid unnecessary medical services, including costly surgeries, as well as improved outcomes. When employees are healthy, time away from work is reduced, which results in increased productivity and lower healthcare costs.
Once an employee participates in a clinical review, they can choose to continue receiving care in their home market or pursue speaking with or coming to see a specialist at Cleveland Clinic. This service enables plan members to have streamlined scheduling with a provider from Cleveland Clinic, ranked No. 4 hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report; or Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston Hospital, ranked No. 1 hospital in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area by U.S. News & World Report.
