MovieMaker Magazine has named the City of Fort Lauderdale as one of the Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker in 2023. Ranked number four, the City of Fort Lauderdale made the top ten list of best Smaller Cities and Towns to Live and Work for the first time.
"We are thrilled that Fort Lauderdale was chosen on the top of the list of MovieMaker Magazine's best places to live and work," said Broward County Film Commissioner, Sandy Lighterman. "We are working hard to make Broward County the most desirable place for moviemakers to shoot their projects."
Film Lauderdale has incentive programs, cost-effective production solutions, beautiful weather, film-friendly municipalities, diverse locations and a concierge-style Film Commission helmed by former production professionals.
"Our mission is clear: to establish Broward County as the most film-friendly and sought-after area for the global film and television industry to bring their projects," said Broward County Commissioner / Former Florida Senator Steve Geller, who championed the creation of a new Film Commission under the Broward County Office of Economic & Small Business Development and launched a local incentive program to attract more productions to the area in 2021.
"The growth of the film and television industry brings an abundance of opportunities for small businesses and local residents," said the Director of the Office of Economic and Small Business Development, Sandy-Michael McDonald. "We have numerous initiatives planned for 2023 to engage our local community and build upon Broward County's network of crew, talent and support vendors."
MovieMaker compiles its annual list based on surveys, production spending, tax incentives, additional research and personal visits.
