Effective immediately, the City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities in the Seminole River Canal and a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway as a result of a wastewater discharge into the stormwater system that drains into the Seminole River Canal and the Intracoastal Waterway. The boundaries of the impacted area are:
• North: SE 15 Street
• South: SE 17 Street
• West: Cordova Road
• East: Intracoastal Waterway
Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or engaging in any other water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area. Water sampling in the affected area will take place daily. The precautionary advisory will be lifted once satisfactory test results are obtained.
