FY2022 Local Solicitation
The JAG funding opportunity is a formal grant that awards money to cities and municipalities based on crime statistics. The grant funds are awarded through the U.S. Department of Justice and administered by the Broward Sheriff’s Office for dispersal through the county. JAG funds may be utilized to create or enhance a variety of law enforcement programs and activities.
BSO Oakland Park will utilize the 2022 Byrne-JAG funding to promote transparency and strengthen public trust between law enforcement and the community with a youth-based focus. The funds will be used to fund overtime for crime prevention strategies to deter our youth and residents from violent criminal activity and hate crimes and introduce them to vital resources and services such as education assistance, work experience, and credential attainment, which lead to positive life outcomes. Law Enforcement will try to increase awareness of personal responsibility, respect, caring for others, and teach the youth the importance of contributing to one’s community. The deterrence of youth violence, crime, and delinquency through leadership, communication, conflict resolution, mentoring, and education builds trust within the juvenile population to improve law enforcement and youth relationships.
