College-prep program series, marketing campaign honored

Broward County Library (BCL) received two 2022 Florida Library Association Awards (FLA), which honor outstanding Florida libraries, individuals, businesses and library supporters. The awards recognize BCL's "Ready for College" program series for teens and their successful email marketing campaign.

"I am proud of our staff, as these awards are testaments to their creativity, perseverance and excellence in both serving the needs of our community and keeping them informed of the library programs and services that help address those needs," says Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs.

Broward County Library's winning 2022 Florida Library Association Awards entries were:

Betty Davis Miller Youth Services Award for Teens: Ready for College

With an original concept that merges SAT/ACT prep classes, skills seminars for college-bound students and an updated online format that makes attending easy and inclusive, the Ready for College Workshop Series is an outstanding example of a Florida library program that provides potentially life-changing resources to high school students, is unique in concept, exceptional in delivery, and noteworthy for its large increase in attendance.

Excellence in Marketing and Public Relations: Customer Email Marketing Campaign

In 2021, Broward County Library's (BCL) Marketing, Publicity & Communications section launched a campaign to raise the open rate of their marketing email, Fresh News. Using a variety of strategies and techniques, Marketing dramatically increased the rate by 50% in one year.

The 2022 FLA Awards were presented at an Awards Ceremony and Reception during the recent FLA 2022 Annual Conference in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
