City of Lauderhill Receives Grant to Assist Residents Attain Equitable Access to COVID-19 Information, Accessibility to Health Care Providers, and Increase Capacity for Intervention.

The City is Seeking Businesses and Health Care Organizations to Complete a Survey and/or Become a Partner to Develop and Implement a Health Literacy Plan.

The City of Lauderhill has been awarded a grant to advance health literacy and enhance equitable community responses to COVID-19. The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health and Office of Minority Health in response to the pandemic’s impact on communities like ours.

The grant will directly address inequities in racial and ethnic minority populations and other socially vulnerable populations, including racial and ethnic minority communities.

Implementing the Grant

The City of Lauderhill is working alongside Nova Southeastern University to accomplish the goals and objectives of this grant. We are seeking applications for partnerships with Lauderhill Businesses and Health Care Providers. Partners will help us provide health materials promoting COVID-19 vaccinations, equitable and factual information and accessibility to health providers as it pertains to COVID-19 in order to increase the ability to implement interventions – especially for Lauderhill residents with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).

What is a Partnership?

A partnership is a formal relationship between the City of Lauderhill and a Community-based organization that will support the development and implementation of the health literacy and sustainability plan alongside the City.

What Does the Partnership Entail?

The partner’s role is to increase the availability, dissemination, adaptation, and use of culturally and linguistically appropriate, evidence-based health literacy practices and interventions; and to ensure accurate, accessible, acceptable, and actionable training, health literacy practices, and intervention resources for the identified populations through a sub-award issued by the City of Lauderhill in an amount up to $24,000.

Who Can be a Partner and How?

The application to become a partner is open to local community-based organizations such as local businesses, healthcare centers, churches, etc. in Lauderhill. To become a partner, please contact the City's Grants Division at 954-714-2173 or email fmohamed@lauderhill-fl.gov.

Another Way to Assist - Answer the Survey

We also ask that Lauderhill Businesses and Health Care Providers complete a survey that will help our team understand the current status of health information/services being provided in the City of Lauderhill. The survey will be available on the City of Lauderhill’s Website on May 9th, 2022 at Data Request from City of Lauderhill Business Owners and Health Care Companies.

Lauderhill Businesses and Health Care Providers can apply for the partnership, complete the survey or do both.
