City crews are performing emergency repairs to a sixteen-inch force main in the area of SE 15th Avenue. The force main failure caused a discharge into the Seminole River Canal & Intracoastal Waterway.
As a result of the failure, the City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a Precautionary Advisory for Water-related Recreational Activities EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY for the Seminole River canal and a section of the Intracoastal Waterway as shown in the shaded part of the map below. Water sampling in the affected area will take place daily and the Advisory for Water-related Recreational Activities will remain in effect until satisfactory test results are received. Neighbors will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
Swimming, fishing, jet skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or engaging in any water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area:
- North: SE 15th Street
- South: SE 17th Street
- East: Intracoastal Waterway
- West: Cordova Road
