Bigger is Better Adoption Event

5

Big dog lovers rejoice! Animal Care is looking for adopters to meet and adopt the many wonderful and lovable larger-size dogs who need a home. From goofballs to cuddlers, there are plenty of pets to choose from during the four-day event, beginning Thursday, April 14th through Sunday, April 17th. Adoption fees will be waived and each adopter will receive free pet supplies.

Small dogs are often adopted quickly leaving many big dogs overlooked and left behind. Sometimes it can take months for a large dog to be adopted simply because of its size. A current example is Ravinia who has been at Animal Care since June of last year despite her great personality. Once someone's pet, she is now patiently awaiting a new family.

"Ravinia is a prime example of the challenge big dogs face. While people's eyes often go directly to small dogs, the personalities of our larger dogs may be a better fit. We've got cuddly big dogs, active big dogs and even dogs who want to learn tricks! A large-size pet is often a perfect match. That's why, during this event, we are asking the community to change their mindset and give a big dog a chance. Our goal is to get at least 50 large dogs adopted during our upcoming event," said Emily Wood, Director of Animal Care.

Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. Adopters can visit broward.org/animal to preview available pets. Each adoptable dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. A Broward County license tag is also included.
