Pump Station A-7 Upgrade Project: Update / New Traffic Pattern

4

The City of Fort Lauderdale is upgrading Pump Station A-7 located on the south side of SW 2 Street between SW 1 Avenue and SW 2 Avenue. The project includes:

  • mechanical and electrical improvements at the pump station
  • asphalt, curb, and paver restoration in the surrounding area.
Once completed, these upgrades are expected to significantly increase the capacity of the wastewater system in the Downtown area. Significant progress has been made in recent weeks and one westbound lane of SW 2 Street will reopen to through traffic on Friday, April 15. Eastbound SW 2 Street will remain closed at this time.

Work is taking place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. with a focus on remaining construction activities including:

  • installing new pumps at the pump station
  • electrical work at the pump station
  • roadway restoration
We are continuing to work toward opening the road as soon as possible. Overall project completion is expected in late summer 2022.

Road Closures as of Friday, April 15

  • One lane of westbound SW 2 Street between SW 1 Avenue and Nugent Avenue will open to through traffic.
  • The Broward County Governmental Center Garage will only be accessible from westbound SW 2 Street. All traffic exiting the garage must turn right and head west on SW 2 Street toward Nugent Avenue.
  • Eastbound SW 2 Street remains closed between SW 2 Avenue and SW 1 Avenue. Traffic is being detoured to Nugent Avenue, Broward Boulevard, and SW 1 Avenue.
Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank our neighbors for their continued patience as we work to upgrade our sewer system as quickly as possible.
