Broward County recently issued the following announcement.
Free outdoor celebration of art and literature for all ages
Prepare to be enlightened and enlivened from noon to 5PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, as Broward County Library and the City of Pompano Beach present ArtLit 2022: Drawing Together, live and in-person, at the Pompano Beach Library and Cultural Center, 50 W Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. The event was postponed from its original date of January 15, 2022.
This will be the fifth year for this free, popular celebration of art and literature for all ages. The program features art, crafts, chalk artistry/mural creation by 15 professional artists and the public, story time tent, stencil painting, poetry and musical performances, computer drawing activities, painting classes for all ages, giveaways, and more for the whole family. There will also be a Martin Luther King Jr. Day remembrance with an origami dove craft.
The afternoon of top-flight entertainment includes Simply Puppets with David Goboff; musical duo Piper and Nightingale; saxophonist and recording artist Randy Corinthian; Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team, Bella the Clown and company; Exit 36 Slam Poetry Team; School of Rock, and more.
There will be lots of photo ops, including a 3D photo frame and the TapSnap photo booth, where pictures are taken free of charge.
ArtLit is the official opening celebration of Broward County Library's NEA Big Read 2022, which features the graphic novel, The Best We Could Do: An Illustrated Memoir by award-winning author Thi Bui.
"This event is buzzing with creativity and a love for the arts and literature," says Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs. "We are very proud of this signature event for the Library. I will be there myself with the Mayor of Pompano Beach. It's not to be missed!"
