Broward County Library's Offers Free Workforce Ready Employment Workshops

Broward

Broward County recently issued the following announcement.

Free workshop series teaches essential job-search skills

Broward County residents interested in step-by-step guidance for a successful job search or career change can register for the new Broward County Library (BCL) Workforce Ready workshop series. Funded by a Comcast grant, Workforce Ready workshops will take place at eight library locations beginning March 4, 2022.

The five components of the program series are Résumé Creation, Basic MS Word, Basic Job Search Best Practices, Essential Interview Skills and Career Planning. Participants will work closely with HR Connection-certified employment coach/consultant/social media influencer Holly Noon to learn essential job and interview skills, including how to use online tools and how to maximize your LinkedIn profile.

The in-person workshops are scheduled from noon-1:30PM or 3:30-5:30PM at participating libraries: Carver Ranches, Davie/Cooper City, Jan Moran Collier City, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill Central Park, North Lauderdale Saraniero, Riverland and Tyrone Bryant. Library addresses, phone numbers and hours can be found on the Library Locations webpage

All workshops are free, and registration is required; call any of participating BCL locations above. Please see the Workforce Ready webpage for class schedule and registration.

BCL enhanced the Workforce Ready program by obtaining multiple additional grants. Supplemental funding for the "BCL to Go" Workforce Ready initiative has been provided by a prestigious Institute of Museum and Library Services grant and by the Broward Public Library Foundation.

For more information about this series or other job-readiness resources and services offered by BCL, please contact Michael Bryant, Adult Services Coordinator, at mdbryant@broward.org or 954-357-7435.
