HOW IT HAPPENED:
NSU began the morning six back of Tampa. However, while Tampa fell back into an eventual fourth-place finish, the Sharks flourished on a day in which four of the five players in the lineup posted red numbers.
Calles lit up the front nine with a bogey-free, 4-under 31 before tallying eight pars and a bogey on the back to lock up the individual title at 5-under overall, two strokes ahead of Cachon.
Cachon's round was up-and-down through the opening 12 holes until the senior caught fire with four birdies down the stretch, including two straight on No. 17 and No. 18. Cachon's final-round 67 lifted him into the runner-up spot at 3-under for the tourney.
A steady diet of 15 pars keyed Emanuel Olofsson's round of 1-under 69. At 4-over for the week, the Swede earned a share of 14th.
Mike Hay rose 10 spots on the leaderboard Tuesday thanks to his 2-under effort. Hay's 54-hole total of 5-over landed him in a tie for 17th.
Joseba Torres followed up rounds of 72 and 74 with a 71 over the final 18 holes to wrap up play in a tie for 21st at 7-over.
Competing this week on NSU's B-Team, freshman Josep Serra made his case for a return into the lineup after finishing tied for fourth at even-par. Serra shrugged off his opening-round 75 by responding by with consecutive rounds of 66 and 69.
Jamie Markwick (+8) concluded the tournament in sole possession of 24th, while Tomas Millet (+11) closed in 26th.
George Mills and Daniel Celestino finished 35th and 41st, respectively.
