HOW IT WAS DECIDED
First Half
Neither side recorded a shot until 20 minutes into the contest. The Owls controlled possession for most of the first half, but 35 minutes in, the shot count was tied at three apiece. FAU came up with big defensive stops, including from Vasilis Spinos who turned a promising Stetson possession into nothing. At the 40th minute, Neil Strauber made a huge diving save for his second of the night to keep the game even at nil-nil. Just three minutes later, however, Stetson's Lewis Scattergood pulled ahead of his defender to find an open pocket in the right of the net for a goal. The Owls trailed 1-0 going into the half.
Second Half
FAU went out aggressive in the second half, as Jose Alastuey came up with a great shot at the 47th minute, but the ball was saved by the Stetson keeper. By the 59th minute, FAU had four shots on target that were all coughed up by the Hatters' keeper. Fast forward to the 63rd minute and Strauber logged back-to-back-to-back saves to hold Stetson back from tacking onto their lead. FAU looked for an answer and came close, taking the game's final three shots, including one by Micael Lervik at the 90th minute, which was saved by the keeper. The Owls were unable to find an answer and dropped the game on the road, 1-0.
