Nova Southeastern University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.
The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team concluded a two-game Sunshine State Conference road trip on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Saint Leo Lions in three-sets. NSU has now won its first 11 matches in 2021 and 17 consecutive games dating back to 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After opening the match down 1-4, NSU battled back-and-forth with Saint Leo before tying the first set at 14-14.
The set tying point was in the middle of a brief 3-0 run by the Sharks, as NSU took its first lead of the match 15-14 following a kill from Julia Bernardes.
Trailing 19-21 late in the opening set, Nova Southeastern rallied for a 5-0 run, taking a 24-21 set lead over Saint Leo.
Alex Psoma started the rally for the Sharks, as Bernardes and Elizabeth Price both added kills to put NSU at set point.
Marianna Fiocco closed the set victory with a kill, as NSU took the first set 25-23.
Saint Leo began the second set up 0-3, and the Sharks responded by tying the set at 10-10 on a 3-0 run.
Following the 3-0 run, NSU also added points on 5-of-6 rallies to take a 15-11 lead over the Lions.
Amanda Hall notched back-to-back kills on the rally, while Psoma added two points of her own and Preslee Brooksbank recorded a service ace.
Two consecutive service aces from Fiocco sealed the set win for NSU, as Nova Southeastern took a 2-0 lead in the match.
Bernardes opened the third set with a kill, giving the Sharks their first opening point of a set in the match.
The third set went back-and-forth with neither team able to gain much of an edge. The largest difference in score was four points (14-10) following a 3-0 rally by SLU.
Aleyna Kennel added a service ace to tie the third set at 16-16.
Saint Leo took a 16-20 lead, forcing NSU to call a timeout.
Hall added back-to-back kills, bringing the Sharks within two, as SLU called a timeout of their own.
Following the Saint Leo timeout, NSU recorded 4-of-6 points, to tie the set at 22-22.
Fiocco tied the set, as the Lions called their second timeout.
The Sharks were able to complete the Sunshine State Conference sweep over the Lions as Fiocco tallied back-to-back service aces.
