Town of Davie issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.
Preventive Maintenance Scheduled for October 5-26, 2021
The City of Fort Lauderdale will temporarily return to using free chlorine in its drinking water system. This preventive maintenance procedure will begin at 9 a.m., on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, and will end at 9 a.m., on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. This notice only affects Town of Davie residents located in Hacienda Village (see map).
Free chlorination is a common practice for water systems using chloramines for disinfection. The chlorination period is anticipated to be transparent to our customers; however, some may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their tap water. In addition, some customers may see water running from fire hydrants in their neighborhoods, which is part of the normal maintenance process.
This procedure will affect the City of Fort Lauderdale, Town of Davie (Hacienda Village only), Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Oakland Park, Port Everglades Authority, Village of Sea Ranch Lakes, Wilton Manors, and sections of Tamarac (east of State Road 7/441).
