Sharks Victorious in SSC Showdown Against Rollins

The Nova Southeastern Women’s Basketball team extended their win streak to six games. The Sharks all-around team effort helped propel NSU to victory in tonight’s SSC matchup against Rollins. Madison Frederick had her seventh outing with 20 or more points, scoring 28 points to lead the Sharks offense.

First Quarter – Frederick got it started for the Sharks, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to give NSU a quick 6-3 lead. Rollins then answered with a couple of baskets of their own, taking a seven-point lead midway through the first. Towards the end of the quarter, Mackenzie Steele and Zeyno Seren knocked down jumpers to cut the Tars lead to three heading into the second quarter. 

Second Quarter – NSU jumped out to an 11-0 run, capped off by a Steele jump shot, giving the Sharks a 24-16 lead three minutes into the quarter. The Tars rallied back to bring the Shark led to just 4 but baskets from Frederick, Steele and a last second layup by India Shepherd gave the Sharks a comfortable lead heading into the break. 

Third Quarter – Midway through the quarter Sarei McGill made back-to-back jump shots to start a 16-3 run for NSU. Which featured points from Frederick, Steele, and Shepherd, giving the Sharks a 54-36 lead at the conclusion of the third quarter.  

Fourth Quarter – The Tars cut Nova’s led to 10 but the Sharks kept their foot on the gas pedal, ultimately sealing the victory. Nova Southeastern wins tonight’s SSC matchup against Rollins 66-58.  

STATS OF THE MATCH

NSU had three student-athletes in double digits, Madison Frederick (28 points), Mackenzie Steele (13 points), and Sarei McGill (11 points). 

UPCOMING

Nova Southeastern travels to Miami Shores, taking on Barry in Sunshine State Conference action, on Saturday, January 7. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
