The City of Oakland Park is fortunate to have a dedicated Volunteer Corps that repeatedly shows up to support our community and provide vital services to residents. In 2022, the Oakland Park Volunteer Corps donated over 3,000 hours of their time, representing an economic impact of about $80,000. The City hosted a recognition award ceremony in December to honor these selfless individuals.

Pat Crowley was named 2022 Volunteer of the Year for donating close to 200 hours. Pat is an integral member of the graffiti patrol and worked in several different departments in the City, including Parks and Leisure Services and the Clerk’s Office.

Myah Pierre was named 2022 Youth Volunteer of the Year for exceeding expectations and contributing over 140 hours to the City’s Summer Camp program. She is a model volunteer who takes pride in connecting with the campers and positively impacting their lives.

James Recovery & Foundation Center was named 2022 Volunteer Team of the Year for donating over 160 hours at various City volunteer events, including National Good Neighbor Day, tree giveaways, park cleanups, neighborhood cleanups, and the Adopt-A-Street program.

Chen Senior Medical Center was named 2022 Volunteer Business Partner of the Year for participating in the City’s 55+ Active Adults Program. The Center donated 158 volunteer hours through resident activities, home food deliveries, hurricane kit distributions, Active Adult trips, and special events.

The City Commission expressed its gratitude for the efforts of the Oakland Park Volunteer Corps during the City Commission meeting on December 14, 2022. From National Good Neighbor Day and food distributions to library volunteers and park cleanups, our volunteers’ selfless efforts reflect our community’s spirit.
