Showcasing the history of Kwanzaa in the lobby at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center.

The Kwanzaa holiday is celebration of African roots in African American culture. Kwanzaa takes place annually from December 26th to January 1st. The word “Kwanzaa” is derived from the Swahili words matunda ya kwanza, meaning “first fruits.” View this special exhibit on Kwanzaa’s history, traditional ceremonies, and foods.
