FOIA Request to Tallahassee Police Department regarding active employee roster on November 13, 2025.
Central Broward News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Tallahassee Police Department seeking access to records related to the department’s current employees. The request, sent on November 13, 2025, aims to obtain any roster, directory, staffing list, payroll record, or personnel summary that identifies all current police department employees. The requested information includes each employee’s name, job title or rank, sex or gender (if available), date of hire or appointment, and age or year of birth (if included in existing public-facing records).
The request specifies that if multiple versions of such rosters exist—such as HR rosters, payroll rosters, sworn-officer rosters, and civilian-staff rosters—the most recent version of each is requested. Central Broward News emphasizes the importance of accessing these public records for journalistic purposes to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.
As part of the request process, Central Broward News has indicated their eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news. The organization is also affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit corporation dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws.
We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
