The Florida Panthers and the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) in Fort Lauderdale have opened two new interactive exhibits aimed at engaging families with movement, play, and learning. The exhibits, titled Game On: Adventure in Every Move and HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever, are now accessible to the public.
Game On: Adventure in Every Move focuses on creativity, strategy, and problem-solving through various games and challenges. It encourages guests to explore how these skills shape different types of games. HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever offers a science-driven experience that examines the skill, speed, and innovation involved in hockey.
Both exhibits are presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital with support from Finally, Florida Prepaid College Savings Plans, the Florida Panthers, and the Shannon and Johnathan Robertson Charitable Fund.
As South Florida’s local NHL team and two-time Stanley Cup Champions, the Florida Panthers are highlighted in HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever. The exhibit explores aspects such as speed, precision, preparation for elite hockey performance, and celebrates the team’s influence on the sport’s growth in South Florida.
Joseph P. Cox, president and CEO of MODS said: “MODS is committed to creating environments where families can learn through play, experimentation and shared experiences. Game On: Adventure in Every Move invites guests to explore how creativity and problem-solving shape the games we love, while HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever brings the science of speed, precision and skill to life.”
Game On: Adventure in Every Move was designed by Minnesota Children’s Museum. It includes both classic tabletop games as well as digital activities that highlight teamwork and curiosity across generations.
HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever was produced by Flying Fish with input from Montréal Science Centre along with support from both the NHL and NHLPA. This exhibit features hands-on stations where visitors can examine how physics, engineering, reaction time, and human performance contribute to modern hockey.
A section called Hometown Heroes spotlights local players from South Florida who have made significant contributions to hockey. The exhibit uses stories and interactive elements to provide insight into how hockey culture develops locally.
Visitors can also test their reaction times or measure simulated slap shots within this exhibit space. A replica locker room gives a look at team culture behind-the-scenes.
John Colombo, VP of Panthers Foundation & Community Relations stated: “We are proud to build on our existing AR Florida Panthers scavenger hunt at MODS and excited to offer fans the opportunity to experience HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever. The exhibit invites the South Florida community to explore the science behind hockey demonstrating how physics and technology impact the sport.”
The Panthers will organize onsite events including special appearances inspired by the team during these exhibitions.
Both Game On: Adventure in Every Move and HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever are included with regular museum admission tickets available at mods.org/tickets.
