The Arts Council of Greater Weston has announced the winners of this year’s Summer Photo Contest who’s theme was ‘Pets & Creatures Great and Small’.  With the competition getting better and better each year, we don’t know how the judges narrowed it down, but they did!  The event was judged by Phoenix Diva, a professional photographer and artist, and Steve Romero, a professional photographer based here in Weston.

There were 84 entries, narrowed down to an album of 30 top images and then down to the final four winners.

1st place was awarded to Ira Abels for “Yellow Crowned Night Herons’ chicks in the Landings”.  Phoenix noted that this was a difficult subject due to birds moving and requires special techniques.

2nd place went to Julissa Parisi for ”Hachi’s Adventures”.  Here Phoenix commented on the good creation of the shot and camera control to freeze the motion of the water drops and light.

3rd place was also given to Ira Abels for his second photo of birds feeding.

And the Most Liked, voted in Instagram by @1westonfl followers, went to Maria Camila Jimenez for her photo of a contemplative gorilla.

All winners were from Weston and cash prizes for winners were: $100 for first place, $75 for second place, $50 for third place, and $25 for the most liked.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WINNERS AND ALL WHO SUBMITTED IMAGAGES – YOU ARE ALL WINNERS!

Thank you to the Arts Council of Greater Weston for another fun-filled Summer Photo Contest that inspires.
